Winnterzuko - Enfer et Paradis - Unreal music video

I am happy to share this music video I directed and created for my friend winnterzuko.

I especially learned Unreal for this project, as I needed quick render times and feedback. This project pushed me to change my workflow to a real-time engine.

Of course, the hardest part was to find the idea, and understand the mood winnterzuko wanted. we added tons of references from his universe to this project (Lain, Terror in resonance, Matrix, etc), and we worked together on the artistic direction of his album and intro clip.

The environments were modeled in Maya and layout in Unreal, the textures were done in Unreal using paint vertex blend materials and tileable textures + decals.

I used some props from Quixel and internet assets to populate some parts of the environment.

Unreal editing tools are really excellent, being able to direct/edit in real-time on top of the music is really a unique experience that I recommend to anyone willing to create short films. The new feature added for sampling render allowed me to push the quality of the CG, this entire clip was rendered with 32 max samples in 4k, and it took 8 hours to render entirely.

This was done in Unreal 4, unfortunately, I was missing some of the excellent features of Unreal 5, but I still managed to find some workaround, I can't wait to play with Unreal 5. :)
